Tracking your smoking
Counting cigarettes: tally sheet, notes app or tracker?
Updated 10/8/2026
Counting cigarettes sounds simple, but often fails after a few days. Here are the common methods and their pros and cons.
Paper tally sheet
Simple and low-tech. Downside: easy to forget, and you have to calculate weekly comparisons yourself.
Notes app
Always with you, but unstructured. Duration, type and trends are hard to analyse.
Dedicated tracker
A tracker records every session with a timestamp and builds statistics automatically. Effort stays minimal and the data stays comparable.
Sticking with it together
Sharing smoke breaks with friends helps you keep going. In Smoke with me you see friends' sessions in the feed, invite them and compete on the smoke-free days leaderboard.
